PICS: Pregnant woman dead, two injured in machete attack in Germany

A ‘pregnant’ woman has been killed and two others injured following a machete attack in Reutlingen near Stuttgart in Germany.

An picture is circulating online appearing to show a man whose face is covered in blood being detained by police. A long-bladed knife is also seen at the feet of police officers in others.


According to Reuters, the suspect is a 21-year-old refugee from Syria, who was known to police.
A man and woman were seen quarreling near a bus station at around 4.30pm shortly before the attack took place, says Spiegel.

The woman is believed to have been pregnant, reports Bild.


It comes just days after nine people were killed by teenage shooter Ali Sonboly in Munich and just over a week after a 17-year-old armed with an axe and knife attacked passengers on a train in Bavaria.
According to Bild, the attack occurred near a restaurant called Mangal where it is believed the female victim worked as a cleaner.

An eyewitness told the paper the suspect seemed completely out of his mind as he went on the rampage.

Another witness told Spiegel: ‘The woman ran away in the direction of bus station, the man behind.
‘Then he came back and when he tried to cross the street, a man in a white BMW has approached him.’
