Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 22nd AUG, 2017) - A renewed mind

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2

The AMP rendering of our opening text says,

“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].” 

Apostle Paul in our opening scripture wasn't just talking to the unbelievers but to the believers as well. There is a choice to make, you either conform to this world or you transform by the renewing of your mind according to the will of God.

The word, “conform” means to follow suit; that is, to be the same or very similar to somebody or something. It may refer to anything pertaining to the habit, manner, dress, style of living, etc., of others, whereas to transform means to undergo a total and complete change.

The spirit of the world is opposed to that of Christ. As such instead of following the ways of the world, the Christian must be "transformed", changed into a new form of life by the renewing of his mind.

The image of the world is not your image.

Ephesians 4:23-24 says,

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” 

Once your mind is renewed, your entire life would follow suit.

The mind of a man is of extreme importance; it makes up who he is. The only way you would be transformed is by renewing your mind. The only way to renew your mind is by the Word of God. Colossians 3:10 says,

“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.”

DECLARATION:
My mind is renewed. I do not conform to the systems of the world. I am daily transformed as I constantly behold the word.
