Sunday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 10th June 2018) - Live Above Sin (2)

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Corinthians 10:6

The AMP rendering of our opening text says,
Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your own submission and obedience [as a church] are fully secured and complete.

Yesterday, we saw that sin began with disobedience, and although a lot of persons have been made to believe that it is impossible to live a life that is devoid of sin, God says otherwise. For God to say it, then it is the truth. Living a life of godliness is what He has designed for the God-child.

2 Peter 1:3 says,
According to as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

You see, godliness is the expression of the God-life. Before now, the life of God was separated for God and God alone.

But through the finished work of Christ, this life was introduced to humanity. Godliness is bringing to reality the life of God here on earth. If God wouldn't do it, then it shouldn't stand. The God class of life is one that is far above sin and beyond the reach of the devil.

Through our opening text, we see that living above sin is as simple as having your obedience fulfilled. If disobedience introduced sin, then obedience would drive it away. If you can simply submit yourself to the obedience of God's Word, you would see yourself live a life above sin.

David understood this, little wonder he said in Psalms 119:11,
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

You have got to live a life that is above sin because, when sin is present in a man's life, it would cripple every Word God has spoken to that man.

Sin inhibits the productivity of God's Word. In other words, the Word of God in your life would become futile in the presence of sin. No matter how much you learn from the Word, sin would prevent you from living in the realities of it.

DECLARATION
My obedience is fulfilled. I submit myself to the obedience of God's Word and His Spirit. I've got the life of God in me!!
