Cristiano Ronaldo’s mum got involved after Zinedine Zidane dared to substitute her son for Real Madrid
Zinedine Zidane made one of the boldest decisions of his short managerial career on Saturday evening – substituting Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 31-year-old wasn’t quite at his prolific best as Madrid travelled
to Las Palmas, who had equalised through Tana after Marco Asensio had

And you know Mums. They always mean well but they also have the ability to embarrass like no other.
And it’s difficult to imagine Cristiano Ronaldo not cringing when he spotted that his mother was tweeting about him being substituted for Real Madrid.
Dolores Aveiro couldn’t resist posting on social media after witnessing her son withdrawn by Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. The Ballon d’Or holder is almost never taken off, and he made clear via some fantastic facial expressions that he wasn’t too happy about it as he left the pitch in the La Liga game against Las Palmas.

Ronaldo looked visibly annoyed by Zidane’s decision and he maintained his look of disapproval as he made his way to the touchline. |

Zidane had one eye on his side’s tricky Champions League meeting with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, but will have been left ruing his decision. Not only does he have Ronaldo’s mum to contend with, but Sergio Araujo also netted a late equaliser after Ronaldo was taken off.
